Tata Electronics Ltd has commenced semiconductor chip exports from its pilot line in Bengaluru to partners in Japan, the US, and Europe.
Plans are underway to establish a new chip packaging unit in Morigaon, Assam, and a $10 billion chip foundry in Dholera, Gujarat.
The company is finalizing the tape-out process for semiconductor chips ranging from 28 to 65 nanometers, including higher nodes, with versatility in applications.
The Dholera chip foundry, a collaboration with PSMC, is projected to have a monthly capacity of up to 50,000 wafer starts, producing chips in leading and legacy nodes.
Tesla's strategic partnership with Tata Electronics for semiconductor chips reflects the latter's emergence as a reliable global supplier, amid hints of Tesla's potential local presence in India through joint ventures with Reliance Industries.
