  • Inspiration from Taiwan: Taiwan, despite being a small island nation near China, has become a global leader in the semiconductor industry. Its success has inspired other countries, including the USA, Japan, and now India, to expand their semiconductor industries.
  • India's Strategic Move: India is establishing semiconductor plants in Gujarat (Sanand and Dholera) and Assam. These plants will help create local job opportunities for Indian engineers, reducing the need for them to seek employment abroad.
  • India-Taiwan Relations: India and Taiwan maintain low-profile commercial, cultural, and educational relations due to China's sensitivities. However, there has been a slight increase in cooperation, especially following the Doklam standoff between India and China.
  • Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR): Located 100 kilometers from Sarkhej, Ahmedabad, Dholera SIR is set to become an ultra-modern city and a hub for various industries, including semiconductors. It is expected to attract businesses in defense, aviation, pharmaceuticals, agro and food processing, and high-tech engineering, leveraging its vast available land and improving infrastructure.
