The Government has announced that Navi Mumbai, Vijayapura, Hassan, Noida (Jewal), Hirasal and Dholera Greenfield airports will be operational within the next three years. Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiradiditya Scindia said in a written response to his question in Lok Sabha on Thursday. He said the government has agreed in principle to establish 21 new Greenfield airports. These airports include Mopa in Goa, Navi Mumbai, Shirdi and Sindudurg in Maharashtra, Karabragi, Vijayapura, Hassan and Shivamoga in Karnataka, Dabula (Gwalior) in Madhya Pradesh, Kushinagar and Noida in Uttar Pradesh. (Jewar), Dholera and Hirasar of Gujarat, Puducherry of Andhra Pradesh, Dagadarthi, Bhogapuram, Karaikal of Orvakal (Kurnool) and Durgapur of West Bengal. Scindia said the airport has become a hub of economic activity and has a multiplier effect on the state's economy.
